great for the price.Feb 27, 2010
For the price you pay, you can't ask for more. Easy to set up. Very flexible application for odd areas. Soft material for little heads. Downers: Gate hard to line up. Need to keep half an eye on the velcro (which is also a good part for ease of cleaning. They have made improvements to the hinges. Overall good quality.

In the past year Summer has changed this gate. The old gate did not have an "A" behind the item number. We purchased the old gate and LOVED it. It was great and we have very few complaints.
The new gate is much different from the old gate. Unfortunatly you cant tell when ordering what gate you are getting.
First off -
The new and old gates are NOT combinable. You can chain together the same gates, but not new and old.
Second-
The new gate (the one with an "A") is thinner metal pipes. The latch is significantly cheaper and makes me worry it will not last the entire time we will need it. The conections no longer have covers. The new gate just looks cheap in compairison to the old one.
After calling Summer, they said you can only find the old gate in stores that move their stock slowely.

If you buy this product, make sure the model number does not have an a at the end(07160A). We have three of the old model, but this new model is cheap. The parts and bars are all smaller in diameter and bend and rattle and shake.They no longer fit with the old models. We are returning the 2 that we bought and looking for something else. I will never buy from this greedy company, Summer, again. Once again greed is overpowering the safety of our children.

This system lasted a long time. Our kids were pretty rough with it and it finally broke down a couple days ago. The kids pushed on the middle area where the gate is and the plastic broke. (but in the fence's defense the kids are over the age of two and very active). Gate still kept functioning, but we took it down anyway. We LOVED this gate system which is what we used to section off half of a bonus room and made it into their playroom. It was a great area that was just theirs. It is tall and the gate is not easy for them to figure out nor did the kids ever climb out of it. It keeps the dogs out of their area as well. I highly recommend it and if I needed it again, I would not hesitate to re-purchase it! ;)

We received three broken gates before we were able to piece together one functional gate. The unbroken finished product is great and the customer service was excellent. Although they did say they would "rush" the replacement gates, both replacement gates took about 7 days to come in. But, they sent them with no hassle. These gates are poorly packaged, which may be the reason they arrive with broken hinges.
