4Good, though way expensive!Feb 14, 2010
We got the Stokke stroller in orange back in 2008 and overall we are pleased with it. On the down side, this is probably the heaviest, most expensive, and most complex to use stroller. On the other hand, once you get the hang of it (and believe me it takes a while!) it's very handy. You can adjust the height and change the seat facing front or back. Moreover, it will provide for a good sense of security, not to mention that it is a head turner and people will regularly comment on it. The umbrella that comes with it is a nice accessory and the bag at the bottom is very useful and holds a lot more than one might assume at first glance. 4 Stars

5It's about your child, not you.Dec 03, 2009
I for own like this stroller a lot. I'm willing to sacrifice minor issues with this stroller to be able to see my daughter riding high and always being able to make a connection with Mommy or Daddy. I don't want my daughter to be staring at everyone's knee caps as we go about our day. Traditional strollers seriously suck in this area. This stroller is about the child being a part of life. The designers and engineers knew exactly what they were doing when they created this stroller. Sure its larger than all the other strollers when folded, its not compact, it doesn't have a crap load of storage space for all your latte's and shopping bags... it's about your child, not you. I find the bag to be adequate to carry everything we need.

So, that's why most reviewers don't get this stroller. It's expensive too, but like I said, a sacrifice I'm willing to make for my child. I've been using it for over a year now and has had no problems at all.

5A stroller that is in a class by itselfOct 27, 2009
Best stroller hands down. I never intended on purchasing such an expensive stroller, but given all the things it can do, it is worth every dime. Stokke is big on promoting interaction with parent and child to enhance early childhood development. Having the child sit higher and closer to you gives them a sense of assurance and security. The stroller is very sturdy and easily adjustable. The height of the bassinet and toddler seat can be easily adjusted making it easy on your back. The seat can be positioned either forward facing or rear facing with just a pull of a lever. It also folds down easily and compact enough to fit in the trunk of my Subaru Legacy. Another nice feature is that it's great when using in restaurants because you can just pull the stroller right up to the table, never having a use for a high chair.

We did an extensive research before purchasing the Stokke stroller given its price. We compared it to the Bugaboo, Orbit, Musty, Quinny, and none can do what the Xplory can.

4Fabulous stroller, loses star for the priceJun 25, 2009
We love our xplory! I did extensive research before deciding on this stroller. From my background in early childhood development, I knew it was best for infants to be able to lie naturally as often as possible. I was adamant about having a bassinet (as opposed to a place to snap in a car seat). Of the few pram-like models available, the Stokke offered the best features and coolest style. The variable height handle is great for petite mom and tall dad. The weight is reasonable. The height of the seat is fantastic for keeping baby close and away from curious dogs and exhaust fumes. The ability to use as a high chair is a wonderful bonus.

Still, the price is quite high even considering all the pros. If I had not been able to find it at a baby store closing sale, I may not have been able to justify the cost. The one saving grace is that they have excellent resale value - in my area used Stokkes sell for about 50% of their purchase price.

4Great Sroller with a Few FlawsFeb 26, 2009
Overall, I love this stroller, and so does my 3 mo-old son.

Pros:
- separate bassinet and stroller frames, so you can use the bassinet for the baby to sleep in, even after you've switched him to the seat. our pediatrician promoted the baby to the seat at 2 mos old, and he LOVES sitting at the 45 degree angle. meanwhile, i'm still using the bassinet on a rocker base from Giggle. can't do this with the bugaboo.
- height of the seat/bassinet. it's so great to see the baby and help the baby without leaning over.
- wheels are so smooth that it rolls almost effortlessly, making uphills and long walks very doable.
- outstanding customer service. i emailed them about some small issues (like the floor model missing the pulls on the zipper), and they sent me new ones, no questions asked.
- lower bag is fantastic for groceries. it expands to be larger than the bugaboo and is removable. so, i'd put in groceries, then carry them upstairs using the handle after detaching it (baby in one hand, bag in other).

Cons:
- the mattress in the bassinet in foam, very junky for such an expensive stroller. i bought a floor model and used the money i saved to order a custom, organic mattress from ecobaby for the bassinet. given his sleeping in it every night, the foam concerned me.
- the bar on the seat is annoying and should go further out from the seat. once i got used to it, it was no problem getting the baby in and out. also, giggle told me i could remove it because it's not required for safety b/c it has a 5 point safety harness.
- like all the other large strollers, it's a pain to fold up and take back out of the car. it's easier than the bugaboo but harder than the quinny. the mechanism is easy once you learn it, but it's so big that for a prius, you have to take the seat off, push the handle to the lowest setting and then flip the handle over. then, it will (barely) fit in the trunk.

Ultimately, this is a great stroller for long walks from the house, but I got a used Maclaren for the car. If I could change one thing about it, it would be the mattress.

BTW, per other reviews:
- i took the foot rest on and off easily with two hands
- i use petunia pickle bottom stroller straps to strap clip on my diaper bag, very easily.
