5Great bottles, no leaks if you follow directionsMar 15, 2010
You can find these simple directions from Avent elsewhere on the internet, and if you follow them, you won't experience any more leaks than you do with other bottles. We had a set of Dr. Brown's but found these Avent bottles reduced fussiness and gas with our infant. We love them! Here are the directions:

1. Ensure that the nipple is wet

2. Place nipple in screw ring and pull through until a click is heard

3. Screw the screw ring firmly onto the bottle

Note: the screwing action causes the anti-colic sealing skirt to spread out
and create the seal against the inside of the bottle neck.

2Leaks leaks leaksMar 09, 2010
It appears that you are supposed to turn the bottle cap counter-clockwise until it "drops", and then commence the clockwise tightening. This did NOT prevent leakage. For a bottle that purports to be one of the best, this is totally unacceptable.

My wife and I have four of these bottles and have been using them, together with other brands, for almost 9 months. It's hit or miss with regards to the leaks; however, the bottle should not leak...period.

Go with Gerber. We have these as well, and they do NOT leak. You twist them on and off you go. Tried, tested and true. Sometimes the best one is the classic one.

1They leak.Mar 04, 2010
No matter what you do (screw them on with cap, just tight, very tight, voodoo chant etc. etc) these bottles leak-- and sometimes they leak a huge amount which REALLY stinks when your baby is sleepy and just about ready to be put down. I broke down and bought the born free (should be called born expensive) bottles, which do not leak but have the irritating and likely useless venting system. Wish I'd known about the cloudy avents vs. the honey colored avents-- maybe that's a better solution, but for us the born frees are working very well.

3These do leak sometimesMar 03, 2010
The avent bottles with the yellowish tint do leak on occasion. They have another type though that has another piece under the cap that keeps this from happening and they are wonderful and never leak. It's hard to explain, but they sell them also on amazon. You should be able to compare and tell which ones are which.

5Wonderful bottles!Mar 02, 2010
Despite the massive amounts of negative reviews, I began purchasing these bottles while I still pregnant. I have all three sizes and I use them with my Avent Isis pump and also put formula in them. Any leaking I encountered was user error. If you take the extra nanoseconds and made sure the nipple "clicks" into the ring and make sure the ring is screwed on correctly, you should experience no leaking. I have found that washing in the dishwasher causes slight warping, so I wash by hand in the sink. It takes me six minutes to wash eight nine-ounce bottles, nipples, rings, and covers. I only have to wash one time a day. I like that they are BPA free and the nipples are silicone. The nipples are also the most breast-like I have encountered. Avent parts are also interchangeable, so I can use the spouts and handles for the sippy cups with my bottles and use the sippy cups for a bottle if I need to. A wonderful bottle from a trusted company!
