works great but smaller than it looksJun 26, 2010 i love the way this item works. the mixing action is actually kinda fun. it's smaller than i expected though. also it says that it's supposed to reduce bubbles and air. not sure that's true. i think that has more to do with what kind of formula you use. we used gentlease and it didn't foam up at all but when we switched to neosure it made lots of foam. in fact even though it's a 32 oz pitcher you can't make more than about 24 ounces at a time because of the foam. but if you let it sit for a minute or two before you pour it out it's usually fine and it's a lot less than shaking in a bottle.
word of caution: it says dishwasher safe but that means top rack only. when we put it in the lower rack the wheel melted and got warped. the company sent us a replacement within three days which we really appreciated.
Love it - very convenientMay 03, 2010 Mixing 6 or 7 bottles per day by hand can be quite a pain. This pitcher saves you all the trouble by allowing you to make a whole days' worth of formula at once.
I believe that Dr. Brown's also makes a smaller version of the mixing pitcher - I wouldn't recommend that one, because this 32oz version does the same job for more formula.
I agree with some of the reviews that this pitcher might not be perfect at keeping all of the air bubbles out of the formula, but if you're careful, you can get about 90% less air than making it yourself.
The pitcher does do a great job of mixing the formula and dissolving all the available lumps. If you have formula that's hard to break down completely (we were struggling with the Enfamil soy formula) then this is definitely worth it.
And yes, the pitcher is probably a little pricey considering you might be able to find something similar (not specifically made for babies) for less. I wouldn't know where to look for something like that, but it might be out there. But we've been very happy with our pitcher and I'm glad we found it.
WONDERFUL!!!Apr 29, 2010 I don't know what I would do without it. This is a 2nd I bought. 1st lasted me good 9 months and when the handle broke I ordered it again and it came very fast and it's a life and time saver. Absolutely LOVE IT and recommend it to every new parent.
This really makes formula feeding easier!Aug 28, 2009 My only regret is not having bought this right away when we started formula. I had wondered if this product was gimmicky, but after mixing formula all the time and storing it in bottles in the fridge, I decided to give the pitcher a try. It is excellent! It mixes a really convenient amount of formula, does so very well and quickly, and with a minimum of added air in the formula. Do yourself a favor and acquire this helpful product!
Makes a messAug 07, 2009 This is the biggest waste of money. It makes such a mess all over the counter when mixing formula and also when pouring into bottles. Even when following the directions perfectly. It is not worth the money at all. Just get a rubbermade pitcher to mix the formula for $3.00-$5.00 at Walmart and you are all set.
