Apparently the door must have clearance above it for this device to be installed and operate.
Nowhere is there an indication of this, let alone how much clearance is required.
Many of our doors are very tight-fitting, so this won't do for us.

THis is a great safety tool. It is very effective. It only needs one small hole to screw in the post you see in the picture. The other part only sits on top of the door, no fasteners. You can lock/unlock door form both sides, exactly what I needed.

We installed these on nearly every door in our house (they're cheap, require one hole per doorway, and can be used from both sides of the door). Why bother with ugly, more expensive, and less effective door locks? Because most people don't know that these things exist (no distribution in big box stores).

These work great. My 2 y/o gets into everything! I was able to discreetly baby proof our laundry room door and my 11 y/o son's door. I am getting ready to buy another packc b/c I need to lock my teenagers door and one of the bathrooms. We've tried many other locks, but these work the best.

These on-top-of-the-door locks were the best invention for child-proof door locks EVER! No worries about the parent getting locked in or out of a room because they don't deal with the door knob at all; they are also operable from both sides of the door. A real simple product that is easy to use. I'm mad that I didn't think of this. There's no worries about children "figuring it out" because they can't reach the top of the door (and probably won't for at least 10 years). My rough-neck daughter has tested the lock's limits by pushing into the door with great might to open it, and has never compromised the lock.
