Great camera!Jul 29, 2010 I received this camera as a gift for Christmas in 2008 and I have been using it constantly for the last year and a half. The camera is great, I have no problems with it AT ALL. My only complaint is that the pictures do kinda suck when you're in a very low-light situation and too far away from your subject to use the flash (i.e. at a wedding and not up front). The pictures come out grainy and blurry because without the flash, it won't focus on anything in particular. Other than that, I've had no problems, and even the videos come out great! No error messages yet so hopefully it continues!
Get the Picture/Picture PerfectJul 27, 2010 This is an excellent as well as attractive and compact digital camera. You get clear, crisp images and it is very user friendly. It is also ideal for travel as it is extremely light and you will be glad to have it if you want to catch and preserve a moment.
Although it is made of anondized aluminum, it is extremely light and yet quite durable. It has an 8MP CCD sensor. The instruction booklet makes a good thing even better still as it is written with directions as clear and sharp as the images you will get when you use this camera.
With this camera you can also record; use for movies and its nonpareil metering system can "catch" and freeze images that are largely in shadows or possibly over-exposed to light. The zoom feature is allows for good, clear close up images.
The only drawback I experienced, albeit minor was that the shutter speed of 1/1500 second is still not quick enough to freeze some action shots.
That having been said, this is an excellent camera that will serve its users well. Be sure to stock up on some spare batteries just in case you need to replace them. Instead of using the 32MB memory card which comes with the camera, use a pair of 4GB SDHC memory cards instead. They will come in handy if you want to shoot movies with your Canon.
This is an excellent camera that amateurs to pros use and it is a worthwhile investment. Canon stands behind its products and rightfully so. You can count on enjoying high caliber photographs and the lightness and durability of this model will ensure that it gets plenty of use.
Great, unless........Jul 20, 2010 Unless a few drops of water touch it - this happened to me while on vacation in Dominican Republic - I mean literally a few DROPS of water touched this camera and FRIED IT. I can see if I dropped it in water, but to have a few drops touch the outside for a few seconds ?! Other than that (but that is a big deal) I did like the camera and all the features and would have kept it a long time. Instead I have to buy another camera - I did the whole "put it in a bag with rice and wait a week for it to dry out" - but the LCD is still friend and without that - useless.
$200 paperweight due to LENS ERROR defectJul 11, 2010 More fortunate than some, mine worked for almost 2 years before becoming yet another $200 paperweight due to the manufacturer's defective design that results in the dreaded LENS ERROR which renders your camera useless.
Since Canon never took responsibility for this defective design, I will never buy another Canon camera again.
UPDATE: Tonight, in a last-ditch effort, I intentionally FORCED the lens back into the camera and held it there for a few seconds. Then I turned it off, and back on again. It is now working properly, but for how long I don't know.
Canon!!!Jul 04, 2010 It's a very nice camera that have been used around the world and survived, the picture quality is good and also the battery last a lot obviously if you don't use much the flash.
